Oh No April Snow

Usually this time of year in the Texas Panhandle we have highs in the 70’s and lows in the upper 40’s . Yesterday and today April 29th and 30th we have been in the lower 30’s. I have not heard how much snow we have received and the winds have been blowing 30,40 and 50 mph.

This is what we woke up to this morning. We do need the moisture but I would like to have had it in rain. Oh well beggars can’t be choosers.

Blizzard in the Texas Panhandle

P1070970 P1070971P1070972We have been under snow warnings before and the weather services and our local weatherman would tell us we were going to get a lot of snow. And either the Low pressure would go the wrong direction too far north or too far south and we would be left high and dry. In fact we joke a lot around here that the weatherman is the only job where you can be wrong 90% of the time and still keep your job. For the last few days they have been forecasting a blizzard warning for us well this time they were right we have winds blowing 45 to 50 mph and heavy snow. Yesterday the temp was up to 60 degrees then last night the temps dropped and the wends picked up and now we have over a foot of snow on the ground with snow drifts up to 4 feet deep. As I am writing this it is around 10:00 in the morning and the storm is supposed to last until sometime tomorrow. We definitely need the moisture for we have been in a drought for several years now in fact there is a lake northeast of us that at one time was 99 feet deep at the dam and as of yesterday it was 28.45 feet at the dam so all this snow will help, I would prefer it to be rain but we will take whatever the Lord gives us.
